Universal Companies is sad to learn of the passing of David Pincus, an extraordinary humanitarian, philanthropist, and friend of Universal who lost his battle with leukemia. "Uncle David" as he was affectionately known to the children he came in contact with, was an avid supporter of the arts and international development. In recent years, his philanthropy was more focused on local efforts, such as playgrounds, hospitals, and schools. In fact his gift to Universal enabled us to build the "Uncle David's Playground" in 2009 on the 1500 block of Catharine Street. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Uncle David expressed his joy in knowing that the children of Philadelphia would be able to enjoy this new playground for years to come.
The staff of Universal extends our heartfelt condolences to the Pincus family.
