Universal Bluford Charter School was proud to participate in Red Ribbon Week, the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. This year, Red Ribbon Week was celebrated between October 22-28, 2011.
Universal Bluford participated each day of the week with special events like drug prevention assemblies and a "March Against Drugs" around the school's community. Students cheered, "Hugs Not Drugs" and "Proud to be Drug Free!" The "Peacemakers," a group comprised of fifth and sixth grade representatives, coordinated the activities and led their peers, along with assistance from teacher Ms. Bergmaier.
Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug free America.
